SKYCTC recognizes Allen County-Scottsville counselor with 2026 Pathfinder Award

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College honored Allen County-Scottsville High School college and career coach, Laura Carter, with the 2026 Pathfinder Award on Friday.

The award recognizes high school teachers and counselors across Kentucky who go above and beyond to help students prepare for college and future careers.

Officials say Carter was selected for her efforts guiding students through career exploration, college visits, financial aid assistance and other opportunities that make higher education more accessible.

“It means a lot because someone had to nominate me,” said Laura Carter, career counselor at Allen County-Scottsville High School. “Hopefully I’ve played a small role in helping students along their path and preparing them for their future.”

SKYCTC leaders also praised Carter’s partnership with the college and her efforts connecting students with community and technical education opportunities.

“We highly value our role in the community, and part of that is building strong partnerships,” said Michelle Trawick, president and CEO of SKYCTC. “Our K-12 educators are a very important part of that.”
