Senator recognized for ‘Commonsense’ award

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Kentucky Partnership for Commonsense Justice recognized Senator Mike Wilson’s Wednesday, as a “2021 Partner for Commonsense Justice.”

The award recognizes state legislators who have gone above and beyond in Frankfort to protect small businesses, healthcare providers and schools from COVID-related lawsuits.

Wilson’s recognition stemmed from his support of Senate Bill 5 that provides protection for businesses that have reopened their doors after closing during the pandemic and are now following safety protocol correctly.

Wilson said though recognition wasn’t what he was pursuing, it still touched him.

“You don’t do this to get awards, but the work that you do to be recognized by those that are truly helping in the community means a lot. It’s very special. Surprising, and very special,” said Wilson.

Senator Wilson’s goal for the state is to succeed in economic development, both East and West. He says as of now, Kentucky is on trajectory to rank high nationally in economic development this year.
