Volunteers prepare food boxes for local students
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Tuesday evening found volunteers busy preparing food boxes that will be distributed by Warren County Public Schools and Bowling Green Independent Schools. The family resource coordinators at those schools helped with the screening process for potential recipients.
The food boxes are prepared monthly by House On the Hill, a local organization that works to provide food and housing to the working poor.
Between 40 and 50 volunteers will prepare about 250 boxes this month alone. This month, WNKY and Christian Family Radio employees helped stuff the boxes which will be taken Wednesday to be given out. Joel Hawkins, the chairman of the board of House On the Hill, said while the project has been going on for years, the pandemic did present some challenges.
