Ohio County woman allegedly barricades herself, children inside home after crashing vehicle while under the influence

CROMWELL, Ky. – An Ohio County woman allegedly crashed into a vehicle and barricaded herself inside her home with three children Tuesday.
According to the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO), deputies responded to a home on River Road to a report of an accident with no injuries at approximately 11:45 pm on July 6.
OCSO says the complainant told them a vehicle, driven by 37-year-old Donna Murch of Cromwell, crashed into a neighbor’s vehicle. The neighbor’s vehicle then crashed into the neighbor’s residence. Three juveniles were occupants in Murch’s vehicle.
The complainant told deputies that Murch went inside her residence and barricaded herself inside. Deputies say that after they arrived, Murch would not exit her home.
Deputies say they heard one of the juveniles screaming in pain. The deputies then forced entry into the home, where they located Murch and the juveniles inside a closet. Murch was allegedly armed with a butcher knife.
Murch allegedly lunged toward officers with the knife. Deputies deployed a taser and removed Murch from the closet, according to OCSO.
Deputies apprehended Murch and removed the juveniles from the home. One of the juveniles had a laceration to the arm.
Murch was arrested and lodged at the Ohio County Detention Center.
She is charged with the following:
- First-degree wanton endangerment
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol .08 (189a.010(1a), 1st
- Third-degree assault of a police/probation officer
- Menacing
- Resisting arrest
- First-degree criminal mischief
- Endangering the welfare of a minor
- First-degree criminal abuse
- Leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid or assist (w/z)
The investigation is ongoing.
