New wayfinding signs installed to guide visitors to Smiths Grove attractions
SMITHS GROVE, Ky. — Travelers exiting Interstate 65 in Smiths Grove will now have an easier time finding some of the community’s most popular destinations thanks to a new wayfinding signage project.
The Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau partnered with the Smiths Grove City Commission and Scotty’s Contracting and Stone to install new tourist wayfinding signs throughout the city.
The signs, located near Exit 38 on Interstate 65, direct visitors to several local attractions, including downtown Smiths Grove, the Antique District, Bluegrass Vineyard and Balance Distilling Company.
Officials say the project is designed to make it easier for travelers to discover destinations they may not have originally planned to visit while increasing visibility for local businesses.
“These signs are perfect for targeting travelers who didn’t already plan to visit these locations,” said Carrie Cavitt, community relations coordinator for the Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. “They get off the interstate to stop for gas, then they see a sign pointing them to Balance Distilling Company, downtown Smiths Grove or Bluegrass Vineyard.”
Cavitt said the signs help attract visitors who might otherwise pass through the area without realizing what Smiths Grove has to offer.
“Being able to see these signs really increases visibility and helps bring visitors to places they might not have considered,” she said. “It raises awareness of these attractions and encourages people to explore the community.”
Officials say the wayfinding signs are part of ongoing efforts to support tourism and encourage more travelers to visit local shops, restaurants and attractions in Smiths Grove.
