New handicap placard rules in Kentucky take effect today

New rules go into effect Monday pertaining to handicap placards in Kentucky.

For those now wishing to obtain a placard, you must now go to your county clerk’s office, fill out a form and have confirmation of a disability from a doctor.

The new placards will be good for six years. A single placard is free and a second one is $10.

Earlier this year, lawmakers passed the new rules in order to reduce the number of handicap parking placards being issued to those who do not truly need them.
