New Americans learn about public safety

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Law enforcement and emergency responders talked to new Americans in Bowling Green on Thursday about public safety.

It’s part of a five-month long leadership training program through the Academy of New Americans.

Participants heard from Bowling Green Officer Ronnie Ward.

Ward talked to the class about the local laws and regulations, including how to properly obtain a driver’s license and how to avoid a traffic stop.

Unlike some of the other sessions, a full day is dedicated to the participants understanding their rights and public safety.

The class has two more sessions and participants will graduate in June.
