Neighbors react to the shooting death of a Franklin man, no suspect has been named
FRANKLIN, Ky. – People who live in the area where a man was shot Wednesday morning are shocked by the violent act.
Just after 6 a.m. Wednesday, police were called to a home on Portland Avenue.
Inside the home, they found Brian Russell, 43, critically wounded.
Russell was quickly air lifted to an area hospital where he died, according to a release.
Neighbors were awakened by gunshots.
One neighbor, George Andrade, was woken up by the gun shots ringing out early Wednesday morning.
“It woke me up because I heard the gunshots and I was like, ‘No. It can’t be no gunshots.’ You know? It just don’t make no sense,” neighbor George Andrade said. “So I woke up and I was about halfway down the steps, and I was like, ‘Nah. It can’t be no gunshots.’ So I went back up and, I mean, about 15 to 30 minutes later police came knocking on the door asking if we had seen something.”
Another neighbor, C.J. Lynch heard the commotion.
“I was on my way to work and I was like, ‘You know, it could be anybody,’ because it could be a stray bullet, or it could be hitting your house. You know, you don’t want that over there. I moved to Franklin to get peace and quiet and stuff so it was surprising it happened here,” said Lynch.
“Like, during the day, there is kids running up and down here. There’s no traffic so like we don’t have cars coming in and out. It’s a dead end. So it’s like being quiet, being tucked in back here. It was like ‘what’s going on.’ We are even thinking about putting cameras on just to be on the safe side for now,” said Andrade.
If you have any information in reference to the shooting, contact the Franklin Police Department.
Franklin police declined an interview and said they would provide updates as the investigation continues.
