Mondays in the Park and Movie Mondays at the Capitol Arts Center underway to bring the community together
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Mondays in the Park, a family friendly music event, has just kicked off its second week out of seven this summer.
If you like outdoor free music during your lunch break, head out on Mondays from 12:30 until 1:30 to Fountain Square Park in Bowling Green until July 26. After the concert you can take the kids to Movie Mondays at the Capitol Arts Center.
This Monday marked the second free lunch break concert in the park featuring a local artist, Nick Lawson, just before the rainstorm came in.
The event is followed by a free kid friendly movie played at the Capitol Arts Center in the square at 2 p.m. on Mondays, according to Ginger Nalley with the Warren County Public Library.
Nalley says because of COVID, some little kids have not gotten used to the experience of movie theaters and this is one great way to get them a little more comfortable with sitting in a seat through a movie.
“Especially with the little kids, it’s kind of a nice way for them to try going to a movie and if they can’t sit still that long, it’s easy for them to leave,”
The concert is a great way to encourage people to visit local businesses on the square and enjoy the beautiful city park area, according to Emily Angel, the community engagement coordinator for Bowling Green Neighborhood and Community services.
“Kids have spent, I guess, a lot of time cooped up. Their schedules have been changed. They have had to survive in unique times and so we want to offer kids a chance to run around and play and be a kid. They can use your imagination, come out in the park, see different plants, look at the fountain,” Angel said.
“It’s way better because everybody can just have something fun to do and stuff,” she said.
These events are completely free and hosted in tandem by the City of Bowling Green and the Warren County Public Library.
