Mississippi River Frozen in Many Places
It’s so cold that bodies of water are freezing and creating chunks of floating ice.
Fort Defiance in Cairo, Illinois is where the Mississippi and the Ohio Rivers meet, and drone footage shows ice floating on the surface of the Mississippi River.
US Coast Guard officials say the ice formed over the holiday weekend. They’re keeping an eye on the situation and say it’s not affecting barge traffic in the area.
