Man fatally shot after allegedly approaching law enforcement with knife in Kenton County

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – A man is dead after authorities say he confronted law enforcement with a knife in Kenton County.

According to the Kentucky State Police, troopers were requested to investigate an officer-involved shooting that happened on Friday shortly after 10 p.m. CST in Kenton County.

Authorities say a preliminary investigation shows officers from the Lakeside Park-Crestview Hills Police Department arrived at a home on University Circle in Crestview Hills to assist the Cabinet for Health and Family Services with an investigation.

Upon arrival, troopers say 37-year-old Daniel Bolinger of Crestview Hills stepped out of the residence and confronted officers while armed with a knife.

Authorities say just after 10 p.m. CST, officers fired their agency-issued weapons, striking Bolinger and causing fatal injuries. Bolinger was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kenton County Coroner’s Office.

No other injuries were reported.
