Man arrested in alleged drug supply to Barren County Detention Center

BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – A fourth person has been detained after authorities say drugs were taken into the Barren County Detention Center.
During a traffic stop around 2:23 p.m. Monday, the Barren County Sheriff’s Department served an active Barren River Drug Task Force indictment warrant to Troy A. Vibbert, 30, of Glasgow.
The investigation began Dec. 28, 2022, when Barren County jailer Aaron Shirley requested the drug task force to learn how illegal drugs were entering the jail.
As a result of the investigation, former deputy jailer Edith Piercy, along with inmates Shasta Vaughn of London, Kentucky and Amber D. Huff of Glasgow, were indicted and arrested.
All were charged with engaging in organized crime and promoting contraband.
In addition, police say they arrested Amber S. Thompson, 31, of Glasgow during Monday’s traffic stop. According to authorities, Thompson possessed a marijuana cigarette.
A drug task force detective was called to the scene. Police searched the vehicle, where they say they located a large bag of suspected marijuana under the passenger seat, along with digital scales and multiple unopened packages of hypodermic needles. A bag of suspected crystal meth was additionally found on Thompson, authorities say.
Thompson was arrested and faces charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine), drug paraphernalia – buy/possess and possession of marijuana.
Vibbert and Thompson were both taken to the Barren County Detention Center.
