Low voter turnout for 2022 primary elections

WARREN CO., Ky.- Today was Kentucky’s primary election day and the last day to cast your vote!

The primary election determines who the republicans and democrats have running in the general election in November for local and statewide positions.

When asked about voter turnout this year, Warren County Clerk Lynette Yates said she was disappointed by the surprisingly small crowds.

In 2018 there was 20% turnout for the primary. Right now Yates said the numbers look like 14-15% for this year.

“It was a little light today but once we get inside and tabulate the votes we’ll know. But from what we were seeing is our numbers were a little bit less than what we were seeing in 2018,” said Yates.
