Louisville man dies in police custody in Simpson County

A man who was accused of running from law enforcement in Simpson County Saturday afternoon died after being taken into custody. 

Kentucky State Police are investigating the death of Joshua M. Thomason, 29, of Louisville.

KSP and the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office were called to a domestic disturbance at an address on Allen Road. Thomason had driven away from the scene in an attempt to avoid law enforcement, according to a release from KSP.

A vehicle pursuit ended near a field on Turnertown Road when Thomason ran from the vehicle, according to the release.

Deputies and a Franklin Police Department Officer took him into custody and upon being placed in custody, he stopped breathing, according to the release. 

Law enforcement officers performed CPR on Thomason until emergency medical responders arrived. He was taken to The Medical Center at Franklin where he was pronounced dead at 2:43 p.m.

An autopsy is scheduled Sunday. No other information was released.
