Logan County Basketball Camp inspires next generation of Cougars
RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – Young athletes spent the week on the court in Russellville during the Logan County Cougar Basketball Camp.
Dozens of campers in first through eighth grade participated in the camp, where they learned basketball fundamentals from Logan County High School coaches and players.
Campers worked on skills such as dribbling, shooting, passing, defense and rebounding while also taking part in games and friendly competitions.
Coaches say the camp is designed to help young athletes improve their skills, build confidence and learn the importance of teamwork.
“It’s guys they look up to,” said John Frick, head basketball coach at Logan County High School. “They come watch them play on Friday nights and want to be like them. It also puts our current players in leadership positions where they can teach the younger generation. It’s a great experience for both our younger campers and our older players.”
Frick said the camp helps strengthen the connection between the high school program and future Cougar basketball players while giving current athletes an opportunity to serve as role models.
The camp continues Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is scheduled to conclude Thursday afternoon.
