Local Law Enforcement preparing for annual campaign
CAVE CITY, Ky. – Yesterday, the annual “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign began in the Bluegrass.
In conjunction with that campaign, local law enforcement is launching an initiative to further emphasize the importance of unimpaired driving.
Cave City police will begin conducting traffic safety check points this week, starting on August 16 and running through September 2.
Check points will be enforced from 8 pm to 1 am during the campaign period at eight different roads and intersections in the area.
During the check, officers will strictly enforce laws involving the operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, in addition to registration and insurance violations, seat belt violations, and faulty equipment. Officials say, it is all done for the safety of the community.
Cave City Police Chief, Darrell Butler, said this campaign is a great way to prevent hazards related to these violations.
“It’s just a great campaign, I think. It gets the people knowing that we are going to be looking. If you’re out driving and drinking, you will be caught,” Butler said.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Department will also be joining in on the campaign.
