Local law enforcement forms Allen County-Scottsville Crime Task Force

ALLEN COUNTY, Ky. – The Allen County Sheriff’s Office and the Scottsville Police Department are joining forces to form the Allen County-Scottsville Crime Task Force.

According to a release on Wednesday, the unit will be equally represented by investigators from both agencies and was created to ensure “serious criminal cases in Allen County and Scottsville receive the time, attention, resources and investigative experience they deserve.”

The agencies say by combining personnel, experience, intelligence, equipment and resources, they will work investigations in a joint effort from the beginning.

According to the agencies, this allows patrol officers to focus on calls for service while dedicated investigators develop cases, gather evidence, interview witnesses and suspects, execute search warrants and work alongside prosecutors and state and federal partners.

The detectives assigned to this unit will be “experienced, aggressive, hardworking and relentless in pursuing the facts,” the release says.

The unit’s goal is to “conduct complete, professional investigations that give prosecutors the strongest cases possible and hold offenders accountable,” according to the release.

The release further states this is a new unit with a new approach and clear expectations.

“Serious crime will be taken seriously,” the agencies stated. “Older cases will not be forgotten, and new cases will receive the investigative attention they require.”

The Allen County-Scottsville Crime Task Force says it needs the community’s help and asks that if anyone knows something about a crime to contact law enforcement.

The Allen County Sheriff’s Office and the Scottsville Police Department say they remain separate agencies, however, when it comes to criminal investigations, they believe they can serve citizens better while working together.
