Local hospital continually refining coronavirus plans
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – With the number of COVID-19 cases increasing every day, local healthcare systems have been working to stay a step ahead. Services like Medical Center EMS are making sure they are continually ready in the face of COVID-19.
Jim Williams, the field operations manager for Medical Center EMS says he has been reviewing their everyday measures for staying safe in addition to adding new information about the coronavirus. It’s part of an effort to keep healthcare workers and first responders safe. It’s also to keep the public safe.
But there are other measures, like cleaning equipment more often. But managing an illness like COVID-19 also means changing where patients are placed. Williams says The Medical Center is placing patients diagnosed with COVID-19 in one area of the hospital as well as moving more medically fragile patients, like those undergoing cancer treatment, to a separate area.
It’s part of the plan to keep patients without the virus from being exposed to it. And, to handle more people seeking medical care, The Medical Center’s Urgent Care facility is now open 24 hours a day every day of the week.
