LifeWorks for Autism hosts open house in Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – LifeWorks for Autism is giving the community a glimpse of the work it does.
The nonprofit develops independent living and employment for participants who are autistic and neurodivergent adults. LifeWorks offered an open house on Tuesday at its facility here in Bowling Green for anyone interested in joining or just knowing more about its programs.
The activities it offers include classroom instruction, transportation, shopping, looking for jobs and even volunteering at other nonprofit agencies.
LifeWorks has seen a lot of success in the five years it has operated.
Hendrix Brakefield, director of LifeWorks for Autism, says, “Currently, almost 100% of participants who have gone through our program have been employed for pay. And after leaving the program, we’re right around, depending on the year, between 80 and 95% of our program participants are out there working and living independently, just like anybody else in the community.”
If you missed Tuesday’s open house at LifeWorks, you can experience a virtual tour on its website at lifeworksforautism.org. It is always looking for businesses and volunteers to partner with.
