KSP reminds public of traffic safety checkpoints

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police would like to remind drivers of traffic safety checkpoints.

A release by KSP stated some proactive measures to keep roads safe include several traffic safety checkpoints and using general patrol tactics in known problematic areas in the district.

KSP uses traffic safety checkpoints to promote safety for drivers and to discourage violation of laws contained in the Kentucky Revised Statutes, according to the release.

KSP stated the intent of a traffic safety checkpoint is to “provide for a high visibility, public safety service, focusing on operator impairment, vehicular equipment deficiencies (confirming appropriate registration and insurance of vehicles) and the valid licensing of drivers.” Other violations of law and/or other public safety issues will be addressed, stated the release.

These checkpoints will allow KSP to periodically concentrate its efforts to check for traffic and law violations that will ultimately increase the safety of the Kentucky residents, according to the release.

Post 3 serves the following counties: Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Simpson and Warren County.
