KSP releases preliminary investigation of fatal Warren County collision
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – On Tuesday, Kentucky State Police Post 3 investigated a fatal collision in Warren County that claimed the life of a Kentucky State Police trooper.
KSP requested the Critical Incident Response Team to investigate a two-vehicle collision that occurred on Nashville Road near the intersection of Fortuna Avenue in Bowling Green.
According to a release, the preliminary investigation indicates that trooper Jonathan Johnson, 48 of Bowling Green, was operating a 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle while off-duty. Johnson was traveling south on Nashville Road.
Zeljka Meskovic, 53, of Bowling Green, was driving a 2008 Toyota Camry. Meskovic was traveling north on Nashville Road in the center turning lane. Troopers say Meskovic then turned left into the travel path of Johnson. Johnson was unable to stop or avoid the collision.
Johnson’s motorcycle collided with Meskovic’s Camry, authorities say. Johnson sustained fatal injuries. No other injuries were reported.
The Warren County coroner pronounced Johnson dead at the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing by KSP CIRT.
KSP was assisted at the scene by KSP Post 3, KSP Post 15, Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Bowling Green Police Department, Woodburn Fire Department, Warren County Coroners Office and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
