If you have recently tested positive for COVID, you can still get vaccinated
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Many people who have had COVID-19 recently are wondering how long they should wait before getting the vaccine.
The answer is, unless you have a severe case or lingering major symptoms, you only have to wait until you are out of quarantine, according to Caleb Benningfield, the Corporate Director of Pharmacy for the Medical Center.
The old recommendation was to wait 90 days, but that has changed.
It is still possible that antibodies formed naturally by your body could last for 90 days, so you may be protected during those three months, but as of right now, not enough studies have been done to confirm that theory, according to Benningfield.
Benningfield recommends everyone get the vaccine as soon as possible and follow all other CDC guidelines until told otherwise.
