US, Britain/Ireland teams hit by stomach bug at Walker Cup

JUNO BEACH, Fla. (AP) — The Walker Cup has been hit with a stomach bug. Officials say members of the U.S. and Great Britain & Ireland teams are dealing with “gastrointestinal issues.” Doctors are observing them at the team hotel. The USGA and R&A say there are no plans yet to delay the competition. The Walker Cup is to start Saturday in Juno Beach, Florida, with foursomes in the morning and singles in the afternoon. It concludes on Saturday. Golf Channel says GB&I had six players and an alternate at practice. The U.S. team had five players and an alternate.
