Thanks, WLAF! Player parlayed London life to Super Bowls

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the World League of American Football. The NFL-backed league didn’t last very long but it provided opportunities for young players. One of those players was Dedrick Dodge. He wasn’t drafted after playing at Florida State but joined the London Monarchs and helped them win the first World Bowl in 1991. Dodge credits his WLAF experience with getting him into the NFL. He went on to win Super Bowl rings in 1995 with the San Francisco 49ers and in 1998 with the Denver Broncos. The World League later became NFL Europe and continued until 2007. The NFL now plays several regular-season games in London.
