Polish presidential election in chaos with only 4 days to go
WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Poland is scheduled to hold an presidential election in four days, and yet nobody can say for sure if it will happen or not. Proposed legislation regulating the vote is still being debated, with no guarantee it will pass. A government official in charge of the vote acknowledges the all-postal ballot election cannot be pulled off Sunday — but it has not been officially postponed, either. The plans to hold the election on a date set months ago have been thrown into disarray by the coronavirus pandemic. But bitter fighting between Poland’s ruling conservative party and its opponents is also preventing the sides from agreeing on an alternative.
