FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Six-time national champion Sam Mikulak struggled in his return to competition at the U.S. Championships. The 29-year-old made major mistakes on three events and is seventh heading into the finals. The event is the first for Mikulak in more than 15 months. Two-time NCAA champion Brody Malone of Stanford is in the lead. Malone’s score of 86.250 stamped him as a leading contender to make the Olympic team and gives him a sizable cushion heading into the finals.
