Medvedev recalls long-ago practice session with Djokovic
MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Daniil Medvedev is not used to being beaten on a tennis court. Nearly four months and 20 matches went by since he was on the wrong end of a scoreline. But none of those contests came against Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open final. That’s a whole different challenge. Djokovic won Sunday’s final 7-5, 6-2, 6-2 to extend his streak to 18 semifinals or finals at Melbourne Park without loss. It was all over in less than two hours. Medvedev could still reflect despite the defeat on the way a “super nice” Djokovic treated him when he was starting out.
