NASCAR makes its first visit to California in nearly two years with Sunday’s stop at the Sonoma Raceway road course. Hendrick Motorsports takes a three-race winning streak into the event and the team is the heavy favorites to win again. Hendrick driver Chase Elliott has become king of the road in NASCAR with six career victories on road courses, though none at Sonoma. But he’s won five of the last six road course races dating to 2019. Martin Truex Jr., however, is the two-time defending winner at Sonoma. NASCAR last raced in wine country in 2019 because of the pandemic.
