‘Beats all of us losing’: 4 US men, 8 women still in French

There are four American men in the French Open’s third round for the first time in 25 years: John Isner, Reilly Opelka, Stevie Johnson and Marcos Giron. All will be facing higher-seeded opponents on Friday. That includes Opelka taking on No. 2 Daniil Medvedev, and Isner facing No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas. If the U.S. men all win, they would then face each other next, with Opelka taking on Giron, and Isner playing Johnson. There are eight women from the U.S. who have made it to the third round, including Serena Williams and Danielle Collins, who play each other Friday.
