Houston Astros Select Mick Uebelhor in the 20th Round of the 2026 MLB Draft

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Houston Astros selected WKU RHP Mick Uebelhor in the 20th round of the 2026 MLB Draft on Sunday evening. With the selection, the Hilltoppers have had two players drafted this year and seven since the 2023 season.
By being picked 601st overall, Uebelhor became the 65th Hilltopper to be selected into the MLB. He is the second Hilltopper to be taken by the Astros in the MLB Draft in the last three years. Grant Burleson was taken by Houston in the 18th round back in 2024.
Uebelhor spent the 2026 campaign with the Hilltoppers as a relief pitcher after two seasons at Oakland City University.
The junior appeared in 18 games and made one start in a WKU uniform. He posted a 3.43 ERA in 44.2 innings of work. He logged 59 strikeouts compared to 12 walks and earned a 3-2 win/loss record and finished with a team best four saves.
The native of Huntingburg, Indiana tossed a season best 4.2 innings of hitless and scoreless baseball in relief against New Mexico State on April 10, striking out seven batters while only allowing one free base en route to the win.
His 59 strikeouts were the second most on the team, and he logged a .204 opponent batting average, allowing 18 runs (17 earned) on 32 hits against 157 batters faced.
