Holley LS Fest gets the green light this weekend
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The 2020 Holley LS Fest in Bowling Green is a go.
The event announced they got the green light to proceed at Beech Bend Raceway.
LS Fest is a celebration of everything and anything powered by the GM LS machine. There will be drag racing, autocross, off-road challenges and more.
“We’re very excited about this event happening, it’s big news for our hotels, restaurants and small business partners,” said Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Ron Bunch.
Bunch said the event is a huge boost for the economy.
“Let’s say you had 100 guests come to town. They’re staying in hotels, eating in restaurants they’re shopping and buying the things they forgot to bring with them,” said Bunch.
Last year the event had nearly 30,000 spectators, but this year the park can only operate at 50 percent capacity to be safe amidst COVID-19.
But even with fewer guests, Beth Noffsinger of the Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitors Bureau is excited, with tourism being down from the pandemic.
“The tourism industry is really hurt this year, this is really gonna be a great opportunity for our hotels and restaurants to do what they do best which is welcome visitors to Bowling Green so we’re really excited.”
In order for the event to happen safely, event officials stated that attendance will be limited and tickets are sold through online only. Guests must wear a mask and stay socially distanced, and the seating is spread out.
