Health officials raising awareness for CPR certification
BOWLING GREEN, KY.- This week is CPR Awareness Week, and several hospitals and organizations are doing what they can to encourage everyone to become CPR certified.
According to health experts, people are 2 to three times more likely to save a life if they receive the certification.
Michael Med Center EMS supervisor tells us, “As a CPR instructor with the American Heart Association, I encourage everybody and anybody to become certified, whether it’s the full certification or if they just get the hands-on. Only part of CPR is very beneficial as well.”
Taking the time to become certified doesn’t just help someone depending on the circumstances; it could save a life.
Stephen Parrott, the Assistant Field Supervisor, said, “We had a full arrest years ago. That is where we call cardiac arrest. Full arrest. On our side. So had somebody, we did CPR, did everything in our job, and we actually got a save out of it, so the more people that know how to actually start CPR, the better off we are.”
