Hart County Civil War Days weekend begins Friday

MUNDFORDSVILLE, Ky. – The Hart County Historical Society will be hosting Civil War Days over the weekend.

The event has been held annually since the 1960s and starts Friday morning and continues through Sunday afternoon.

The Hart County square will host vendors and food trucks.

Saturday at 10 a.m., there will be a parade on the square as well.

Then, the Civil War reenactments will be hosted on the battlefield on Rush Island Bend Road Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.

The reenactors and planning committee enjoy sharing their passion, history.

“We’re a little bit different than most Civil War places. Most places armies come in, had a battle, and then they left. Hart County was occupied the whole four years of the war, either by federal soldiers or Confederate soldiers. And, Hart County did produce two generals during the Civil War, Simon Bolivar Buckner, who was on the Confederacy’s side. And then Thomas Wood, who was on the federal side. So that’s pretty neat in itself too,” said Greg Ard, the president of the Hart County Historical Society.
