Law enforcement agencies to gather donations at Hand it to a Hero

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – It’s that time our year again when the Franklin R. Sousley Marine Corps League takes up donations for Toys for Tots.

Last year, the Marine Corps distributed almost 80,000 toys to 11,000 children. This year, they’re back again at the Walmart off Campbell Lane, hoping to surpass last year’s numbers.

Many agencies are involved in collecting, among them are the Bowling Green Fire Department, Warren County Sheriff’s Office and the Bowling Green Police Department.

In an interview with News 40, public information officer Ronnie Ward of the Bowling Green Police said he’s happy to have the department help out every year being that it’s such a great organization that impacts the community so well.

At Walmart on Campbell Lane on Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Marine Corps, along with other community heroes, will be outside taking up new toy donations. Participating locations are taking up toys as well if you can’t make the actual day. The organization asks that all toys be new and packaged.
