Hancock County man charged after allegedly kidnapping ex-wife & child, crashing into deputy cruisers

OHIO COUNTY, Ky. – A Hancock County man faces criminal charges following a police pursuit.
Hancock County Dispatch contacted the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday evening, requesting assistance with a vehicle pursuit entering Ohio County.
Dispatch told OCSO that a truck rammed a Hancock County Sheriff’s Office deputy cruiser.
The driver is identified as 44-year-old Cody Wedding, of Hawesville.
Police say Wedding’s ex-wife and child were being held hostage in the truck.
OCSO says the pursuit went through Fordsville and proceeded to State Route 69 North and then southbound to the Dundee area.
Officers deployed spike stripes. Wedding’s truck struck another vehicle with one occupant and continued to flee.
Deputies located the vehicle and Wedding’s truck struck two cruisers. Wedding’s truck went off the roadway and became stuck in a ditch.
Wedding was arrested and transported to the Ohio County Detention Center.
Wedding is charged with the following:
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/substance (189a.010)-2nd (agg cir)
- Fleeing or evading police, 1st degree (motor vehicle)
- Criminal mischief, 1st degree (three counts)
- Reckless driving
- Wanton endangerment-1st degree
- Wanton endangerment-1st degree- police officer (two counts)
- Kidnapping-minor
- Kidnapping-adult
