Group gathers to speak out against hate
A group of people gathered in Circus Square Park Saturday for a rally against hate in response to two white supremacist groups that had scheduled a private meeting in Bowling Green.
Participants of the Not in Our Town rally said the goal of it was to tell everyone that hate is not welcome here.
“Out-of-town Nazis showing up in Bowling Green is just not OK,” rally attendee William Paul Carter said. “It flies in the face of Bowling Green’s culture. It flies in the face of what Bowling Green’s community stands for.”
According to the rally’s Facebook page, the National Socialist Movement and League of the South, groups involved in the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, were scheduled to be in Bowling Green Saturday at an undisclosed location.
Some the rally attendees carried signs while others spoke.
The rally was peaceful and no counter protesters attended.
