GRAYSON COUNTY, Ky. (K105) – A Grayson County man is facing charges after allegedly shooting at his son’s vehicle several times.

According to K105, the incident happened Sunday afternoon in the Wax community when 59-year-old John S. Caddell of Wax reportedly shot at his adult son multiple times as his son tried to leave in a truck.

K105 reports the victim looked in his rearview mirror as the shots were fired and saw Caddell “crouched next to a vehicle pointing a handgun at the vehicle he was in.”

Caddell then reentered the residence, followed by the victim to “check on his father,” according to a complaint.

K105 states the son “made contact with Caddell in the kitchen,” where Caddell allegedly used a large knife to “clear some sort of jam from the handgun magazine.”

During this time, K105 says a complaint states Caddell tried to slash at his son in the abdomen with the knife, missing the victim by only inches.

The victim then left and called 911, according to K105.

According to the complaint, Caddell “had been drinking heavily” that morning.

Caddell was arrested Monday morning. He faces charges of first-degree wanton endangerment (discharge of a firearm) and attempted first-degree assault.

He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
