Glasgow pair charged with child abuse of 4-year-old

BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – A Glasgow father and his girlfriend are behind bars as a result of a child abuse investigation.
According to a complaint warrant, Glasgow police responded on April 30 to a residence regarding a report of child abuse.
The document further states upon arrival, a social worker stated they were investigating a 4-year-old with serious bruising.
According to the document, 22-year-old Elizabeth Morris, the girlfriend of the child’s father, identified as 29-year-old Dalton Jackson of Glasgow, stated the child had fallen down the back steps of the residence, causing the bruising.
The complaint warrant states Jackson then was made to take the child to T.J. Samson Community Hospital by the social worker on scene. According to the document, the child was found to have a spinal fracture in a vertebrae, confirmed by a doctor.
During an interview, the document states both Morris and Jackson repeated that the child had fallen.
According to the document, bruising was later discovered on the child in the shape of a handprint.
Both individuals, Morris and Jackson, were arrested on May 12. They are charged with first-degree child abuse, child 12 or under.
Both remain at the Barren County Detention Center.
