General Motors offering buyouts to employees
General Motors, the automotive company, recently announced buy-out offers as a way to cut over $6.5 billion dollars in costs. The buy-out offers are being offered to nearly 18,000 workers in the United States. It applies to salary workers who have worked with the company for at least 12-years. General Motors employs nearly 50,000 salaried workers in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
There is no word if this will affect the Bowling Green Corvette plant.
The Vice President of the United Auto Workers in Bowling Green, Jack Bowers, tells WNKY News, that it always concerns him when people are losing their jobs, whether it’s here or not.
Workers have until November 19, 2018 to take the offer.
