Fruit of the Loom outsourcing, cutting 100 jobs at Bowling Green headquarters
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Fruit of the Loom in Bowling Green has announced they are cutting 100 jobs.
This is due to the company outsourcing its information technology services.
The bowling green facility is going to transfer its information technology services to Wipro Ltd.
Wipro Ltd is an India-based company specializing in I.T., consulting and business process services.
The company expects the transition to begin immediately and will continue through March of 2020.
By the end of the transition, the company will remove 100 jobs most of which will be in the headquarters.
This reduction comes on the heels of an announcement in February to restructure certain departments.
Mayor Bruce Wilkerson says the situation is uncomfortable for the families the outsourcing will effect.
However, Mayor Wilkerson believes the 100 individuals will find jobs in Bowling Green’s growing economy.
The Fruit of the Loom company currently has more than 28,000 employees worldwide.
