Free eye exams and glasses for people in need at WKU this weekend

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – This weekend, people in need of eye care can get glasses for free thanks to one Western Kentucky University student.

Saturday and Sunday, you can go to a free disaster relief vision clinic here in Bowling Green.

The nonprofit organization Remote Area Medical, or RAM, will give free glaucoma tests, vision tests and even make eye glasses on-site.

WKU junior Hannah Shapiro started a college chapter of Ram in early 2020. She called the nonprofit and asked for their help following the tornado, and thanks to her, they’re here to help

Shapiro said, “Seeing all of the devastation here in Bowling Green, I just wanted to reach out and see if we could get a clinic as soon as possible to help those that were impacted.”

RAM Telehealth & Disaster Manager Stephen Blackstock said, “Just come, and we’ll help you out.”

You can come both days this weekend to Western Kentucky University’s South Campus at 2355 Nashville Road for free vision care, no ID needed. Clinic doors open at 6am, and the clinic is first come first serve.
