Man, 12-year-old girl killed after tree falls onto vehicle in Morgantown

MORGANTOWN, Ky. – Authorities say a man and a 12-year-old passenger died after a tree fell onto a truck in Morgantown.

The Kentucky State Police says it was requested by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the fatal incident around 2:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

KSP says it responded to the scene near the 2000 block of Brooklyn Chapel Road.

Authorities say they determined 49-year-old Christopher Fulkerson of Morgantown was driving a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Brooklyn Chapel Road when a tree on the east side of the roadway fell onto the roof of the vehicle.

Fulkerson and the 12-year-old girl were pronounced dead at the scene by the Butler County Coroner, according to KSP.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
