Family Enrichment Center hosting events to bring awareness to foster care

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Family Enrichment Center in Warren County is hoping to bring awareness to the needs of the Kentucky’s foster care system during May, National Foster Care Awareness Month.

Part of the center’s key programs is to recruit foster and adoptive families as well as provide them with continuing training and support within the region.

The center will be hosting an informational session on Tuesday, May 25 on the requirements and process people must go through to be approved to foster or adopt.

They are also collecting small toiletry items that will be given to foster children and their families during transition.

“Nobody wants to talk about the abuse and neglect of children but the reality is, that  child abuse happens every day and not just somewhere else but in your own  community,” said Adoption Resource Program Coordinator, Denise Lambrianou, “Making  sure there are enough qualified and well trained foster homes is imperative to the well being of these children.”

If you want to support the Adoption Resource Program, the Franklin Drive In is hosting a movie night on Thursday night showing the film Instant Family. All proceeds from admission sales will go to the Adoption Resource Program.
