Dr. Patti Minter appointed to Kentucky Board of Education
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Dr. Patti Minter, former Kentucky State Representative and current Professor of History at Western Kentucky University, has been appointed to the Kentucky Board of Education by Gov. Andy Beshear.
That’s according to WKU’s website on Wednesday, Aug. 5. Minter was officially sworn in on Wednesday, the release says. She will serve as an At-Large Member for a term expiring on April 14, 2030.
Minter was elected to the 20th district in the Kentucky House of Representatives in 2018 and served January 1, 2019 through January 1, 2023.
”I am very honored that Governor Beshear has appointed me to the Kentucky Board of Education,” Minter said. “As I begin my 34th year as an educator, I look forward to representing Kentucky’s students, faculty, administrators and families as their voice on this board and to being their advocate.”
In 2023, she was appointed to the Kentucky Commission on Women, which is dedicated to elevating the status of women and girls in the Commonwealth, empowering them to overcome barriers to equity and expanding opportunities to achieve their fullest potential, the release says.
Minter has taught history and legal studies courses at WKU since 1993. She previously served as the faculty regent on the WKU Board of Regents from 2007 to 2014.
