Couple awarded South Central Kentuckian of the Year award

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green couple is being honored for its philanthropy.
On Thursday, The Community Foundation of South Central Kentucky named Jim and Eva Martens as the 2024 South Central Kentuckian of the Year.
The Martens were honored at a ceremony at the National Corvette Museum.
The award is presented annually to an individual or organization that exhibits excellence in leadership. The Community Fund bases its selections on community initiative, the impact of work, and the inspiration of others. The award honors those who make a significant community impact based on the criteria.
Jim and Eva Martens support twenty non-profit and community organizations.
The Martens are also recipients of the 2014 WKU Distinguished Service Award, the 2016 United Way 60/60 Service and Giving Award, the 2018 BG Housing Authority Roast Honoree, and the 2022 WKU Alumni Center Dedication: Eva and Jim Martens Alumni Center.
