Community turns out for first Edmonson County Music and Arts Festival despite rain
BROWNSVILLE, Ky. (WNKY) – A celebration of local talent in Edmonson County was cut short Saturday evening after weather forced organizers to end the first-ever Edmonson County Music and Arts Festival early.
The festival brought together musicians, artists, vendors, and community members at the Edmonson County Fairgrounds for a day focused on showcasing local creativity. Organizers said the event featured about 10 bands and more than 30 vendors, with performers who have ties to the community.
Despite the rain, organizers said many people continued to show their support.
“Edmonson County is always good to support us and everything we do,” said Phyllis Miller, president of the Edmonson County Arts Council. “They always come through for us. And we’re trying to bring some music and entertainment into the community, and they’re pretty good to come around and help us when we have something going on.”
The event was a partnership between the Edmonson County Arts Council and the Lions Club. Organizers said the goal was to create a new community tradition highlighting local musicians, artists, and makers.
While the weather prevented the festival from finishing as planned, organizers said they hope the event can return in the future.
“It’s brought so much camaraderie with the musicians and artists and the Lions Club and the Arts Guild,” Miller said. “All of us working together to bring something great to Edmonson County.”
