Charlotte hands WKU loss in final seconds

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – In a game that found WKU struggling in the opening minutes Saturday night, the men’s basketball team found their pace and the scoreboard began to reflect it.
At one point, Charleston led by eight points in the final minutes of the first half, partly a product of shot-clock violations on the Hilltopper’s part, the other courtesy missed baskets by the Toppers.
By the second half, WKU was better able to capitalize on free throw attempts and clock management to close the scoring gap and eventually take the lead 61-60 with just over four minutes left in the game. Charlotte acted fast to retake the lead until WKU’s Josh Anderson tied the game at 64-64 with his basket.
After Charlotte retook the lead with a three-pointer, WKU’s Savage sunk a three to tie the game once again with 16 seconds on the clock. Charlotte broke the tie in the final seconds of the game, winning 72-70.
