Cavanaugh announces her cancer is in remission

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Former WKU volleyball star Alyssa Cavanaugh tweeted on Monday that her cancer is in remission.

Cavanaugh announced back in September that she had been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

The former All-American then found out in late October that she would need a bone marrow transplant in order to become cancer free. She found a donor for that transplant earlier this month.

During her time at WKU, Cavanaugh was an All-American that led WKU to 4 Conference USA titles and 123 wins, but with the good news she just received, it looks like she’s on her way to notching win number 124.
