MURRAY, Ky. – One man is facing charges after allegedly fleeing law enforcement in Calloway County.

According to a social media post by the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, around 2 a.m. Sunday, deputies attempted a traffic stop on Pottertown Road when a vehicle fled.

Authorities say the driver, identified as 21-year-old Jonathan Gwaltney of Murray, accelerated, reaching over 85 miles per hour before losing control into several trees on Poplar Springs Road.

Deputies say Gwaltney was assisted from the vehicle as it caught fire.
