Burn ban issued in Barren County

GLASGOW, Ky. – A burn ban has been issued in Barren County, adding to the growing list of counties in South Central Kentucky to do so.

According to an executive order by Barren County Judge Executive Jamie Bewley Byrd, the ban is being ordered due to “extremely dry weather” that increases the risk of fire.

The burn ban is effective immediately on Sept. 4, according to the document.

The executive order states that no outside burning is permitted during the ban, including fireworks and burning of material outdoors.

According to the document, the burn ban will be in effect until conditions are “abated by rainfall.”

Under Kentucky law, violations of the order can result in a fine of at least $50 and no more than $500.
